Coincidence or something else?

What I find really strange is that after I posted the comment asking Yahoo where Yahoo stood on piracy based on Yahoo's flagrant ignoring of Yahoo's facilitation of piracy via Yahoo groups and such activity was reported to Cisco, Yahoo started behaving very odd. As a matter of fact, several of my groups magically disappeared--groups that belonged to readers and publishers, not sharing groups.

Sharing groups my derriere, pirating jerks.

Amusing is how pirates are complaining. Complaining about having to deal with annoying quizzes to get to illegal files. Complaining about how certain file host sites limit downloads if not a member. I think host sites are doing such in an attempt to hinder piracy because those host sites do not want to face criminal charges of facilitation.

Funny is how pirates are whining that authors should turn out better books. Come on, pirates, get real. You lazy, whinny, crybaby wimps want authors to spend even more time, effort and work putting out books for what...so you can STEAL those books? Get off your lowlife backside and get a life--do something of importance with your life...like get one or at least a job and pay the authors for the hard work. If you think it's so easy to write a story and get published, try it.

  1. Not coincidence. Probably, credit goes to Microsoft, which was being massively infringed on a group called The-Treasure-Chest.

"There is no group called The-Treasure-Chest. Please make sure you typed the web address correctly. If you have done so, the group may no longer exist."

  2. This yahoo group still seems to be in business:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ebookstation/

"This is a group for sharing the best free ebooks like the Da Vinci Code, Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. We also have ebooks from best-selling authors such as John Grisham, Michael Crichton, Stephen King, Tom Clancy, C.S. Lewis, Ian Fleming, Robert Ludlum, Orson Scott Card, Mario Puzo, Paulo Coelho and more. You can also request for ebooks."

  3. It's a pathetic shame Yahoo is not using their legal assets because I’m sure any semi-intelligent businessperson can inform Yahoo that allowing a group to use their host site to facilitate pirating makes Yahoo another Napster and if Napster can be sued and loose, so can Yahoo. Wake up, Yahoo, get a grip on reality because someone out there has the money and time and that someone may decide to take Yahoo to court.

  4. Yahoo Customer Service Hint:
It's entirely possible that some pissed off pirate might report a non-infringing Yahoo group as some sort of revenge. Not to worry. While there’s no Customer Service to speak of for Yahoo groups -- they’re free, after all -- if you take your main Yahoo email address and convert it to a $19.99 per year paid service, you can get telephone support/customer service, and any Yahoo group you own can be immediately resorted if it's disappeared, as well as any unwarranted blocks removed from your accounts.
We do this as a publisher, to protect our reader loops from hackers.

Thanks, and keep up the good work!
